Rediscovering Nanay Bebeng

a warmer and festive interior of Nanay Bebeng Restaurant- KCC GenSan Branch

Originated in Davao City in 1996, Nanay Bebeng food chain now has a number of branches all over Mindanao. Here in General Santos City, they have two branches one of which is situated at the KCC Mall of Gensan. Under a new management, Nanay Bebeng Restaurant will be bringing back original family recipes to its menu to keep up with increasing stiff competition in the local food industry.

Offering mainly original Filipino dishes, Nanay Bebeng's serving is good for sharing, thus the place is best for family and group dining.

Bo's Blueberry Cheesecake

You can barely find me hanging-out in coffee shops but Bo's Blueberry Cheesecake made me want to go and visit them occasionally. Since discovering that I love Blueberry Cheesecake, I have tried versions from other shops but as of this writing my taste buds give Bo's Blueberry Cheesecake a perfect score of 10. Though we know that the blueberry are not fresh, the cheesecake is so creamy and fine that it melts in your mouth and goes well with an Americano.

The next time you crave for Blueberry Cheesecake, go check out Bo's Coffee. In General Santos City, you can find it at ground floor SM Gensan.

Backyard Burger invades Gensan for Tunafest 2013

I love burger. Good thing, I share this same gastronomic need with my boyfriend thus we made a pact to search for the best burger that we can come across. In the search for the best burger, we discovered Backyard Burger, a proud Davao homegrown burger joint way back 2011. We checked out one of their two branches in Davao, the one transferred at #88 Quimpo Boulevard (which is a good move by the way) and started to consider them one of the best burgers we have tasted.

Since we live in the city of General Santos, we did not have a chance to go back and grab a bite of their bestsellers until they came and invaded my hometown during the Tuna Festival of 2013.

Renting an old residence with a large yard in San Miguel Street fronting SM Gensan, Backyard Burger's short stint in GenSan was a huge hit. From people who already tried them in Davao to curious bystanders, BB was a blockbuster in their 2-day stay in a city, as a matter of fact, you have to wait from 30 minutes up to an hour and a half before you can get a taste of their popular burgers that you can still make a round of window shopping or run an errand at the mall nearby . This would make any usual customer impatient but with the ever-amiable and able proprietor readily available to answer your queries, you just let the waiting pass up.

With the tagline, "Made the way you want it", you can choose on how you want your burger made if you are in their shop. But for their GenSan customers, they used the social media and conducted a survey on what Customized Burgers the customers wanted to be brought in the city.

If you happen to drop by Davao City, go check out Backyard Burgers.

Breakfast at Lemlunay

One of my favorite places here in Southern Mindanao is Lemlunay. Popular among scuba divers, the place is already gaining popularity from some locales and tourists as well. What I love about the place is, its seclusive location giving you a stress free atmosphere when you wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of your busy every day life.

Planning to stay over night at Lemlunay? I am sharing to you some of their breakfast choices: Corned beef, tocino, tapa, friend bangus, spam and other usually served Filipino breakfast. What makes breakfast at Lemlunay extra special is the priceless view of Sarangani Bay and the freshness of air as you savour your morning coffee and eat your breakfast.

Aunt Ludis @ SM Gensan

Aunt Ludi SM Gensan interiors

When in General Santos City, try Aunt Ludi Bakeshop in SM Gensan (their 3rd store) located at the 2nd Floor. Since investing a space in Robinsons Mall Gensan in 2009, Aunt Ludi is now gaining popularity among the locals and visitors. Proudly a home-grown brand, Aunt Ludi is surely promising as long as they will keep the quality of their food the way their customers love it.

With a corner slot of the mall, Aunt Ludi really got a very strategic location where its regular customers can easily access. Divided into two sections, Aunt Ludi occupies six 4-seater tables and racks of breads and other dessert offerings. It has a homey feel to it at the same time a coffee-shop feel to it. It is a good place for meet-up for its easy to find location and of course because of the food.

Known for their tasty breads, delectable pastries, in demand cake selections and more delicious desserts, Aunt Ludi Bakeshop also offers an array of reasonably priced meal selection. They are generous of their rice meal servings and their mushroom soup is yummy. The next time you go and visit Aunt Ludi, try ordering their TW0-FACED Burger, it is one of the best. Meal prices range from 90 pesos to 200 pesos and it comes with free iced-tea.

Aunt Ludi can be found in Robinsons Gensan and Purok Malakas as well.
